Last week Daedelus and James Pants were in town to play the hifi. Letanque bloggers were in attendance and afterwards easily agreed the show ranked among the best of 2009. Sitting through James Pants was a bit painful but well worth the wait as Daedelus smashed it from the get go. No doubt the guy is genius with the bit box he works. Lots of speculations as to what is actually going on there but whatever it is he had us dancing all night and the guy loves what he does.

summer is over baby. on to evenings indoors, muted hockey games and rotating shiny black things. ok, its an obviously self indulgent mix here,.. bass, space and more bass, yet one i think many can appreciate. starting with all time favorite grime track skeng man mode into sizzla over the maSSive forward riddim by dexplicit. POW! from there quickly to LA beatmakers, kazi & oh no, ras g, and mono/poly. amidst the chaos, siren & airhorn fun with the maddecent iphone app, more head nodding from detroit rappers frank n dank and belgian sir oj, and then things get hazzy with a poet (ras g- 1derful beings). next the first track off koushik’s new album sets a minimal transition into more grime and dubstep ridiculousness care of starkey, devlin and unitz (kudos to BBC queen Mary Anne Hobbs for the picks). chop chop, a side trip to the deep south, then onto the highlight of the mix dorian concept. boom! trilingual dance sexperience, have you ever heard anything like it? finally, more off the album of the summer (machinedrum- Want to 1 2?) and some mike slott peachy before a dnb close featuring new and old productions.
HAHAHA, I know it’s just a loop from a silly TV commercial, but I watched the whole 6:30 of the video and loved it. Maybe it’s because the beat is so sick!
our friends over at theartprojectonline are hosting an art gallery show down at artlife in Calgary, Ab on July 17, 2009. . .the show entitled Projections, and here is a blurb from their website:
The show details are:
Calgary, Alberta July 17-19th at Artlife called Projections. ArtLife is a gallery, as well as a well known boutique located at 1312 1st SW, Calgary, Alberta. It has a very large following in the Alberta Arts scene and will give our crew of artists who wish to participate large exposure. The space for this event is limited, so we will be focusing on local Calgary artists, and artists that can attend the event. However, we will be introducing a new projector program feature for all our artists to participate.
The projector program is a new feature that will be offered to site artists that are unable to make the event or wish to display larger pieces of work that may not be easily transported. The art will be displayed in high resolution, and feature all necessary information regarding descriptions about the art, artist and pricing. We strongly believe the projector to be the future of our art gallery parties as artists will no longer need to be concerned with shipment, it will provide flexibility and create an interactive way to retain future buyer’s attention. We are extremely excited about the projector gallery concept and looking forward to pilot this project at the Calgary event.
We have chosen Women in Need as our local Charity it support for this event. Women In Need Society (WINS) is a charitable not-for-profit organization in Calgary. Established in 1992, WINS’ mission is to help women help themselves through innovative and effective programs and services.

so it’s official! flexisonic is now out on the web for real. for all of our friends/fans and family here is the first of many great flexisonic moments! sorry, it has taken awhile to get up and posted on the net.

who’s flexisonic? they are a collaboration project, club music style dj’s. flexisonic has continued to develop their own sound for the past three years. three years of carrying turntables through the snow to get to the party. . . of mixing until morning in the living room and then going to work. three years of scheduling practice with two guys and 4 turntables and lots of arguments in the search of perfection. now farther away from perfection than ever. . . .
anyways, here’s the first of many mixes/tracks to keep you company on the dancefloor, on your car speakers and in your livingroom.

Last weekend I got a chance to go see Caspa live in Calgary. And he killed it! Playing at Fabric in London the night before, he impressed the crowd by keeping his music loud and his mixes tight! I was proud of Calgary – huge crowd and everyone knew the songs. He rocked an all vinyl show and played all the new bangers and old favorites. The other headliners where locals Slim Pickins/Instinct/Soundboy Murda who definitely represented.
DJ Eleven, also Calgary local, brought the party up a notch (they had to turn her down she was so banging!). Apparently it was her birthday to boot. Check out her facebook page here
Also, check out Excision’s facebook page. . .he played before Caspa and got everyone dancing. Glitch hop, dubstep, drum and bass. . .basically loud music! Way to go for Calgary talent! Hopefully I can find some tracks from these two and get them posted on letanque.
