some pretty cool latin flavored bass music. i’m having fun with these ones…

Had an amazing time at the nosaj thing and daedelus show on tuesday. I haven’t danced that hard in a few years. Here are a few of the hi-lites:

just got a white label record given to me out of the blue from a good friend (panda slap!). . ..reminded me that little things you do for people in life really do matter, and that receiving vinyl is still a trillion times better than a free download. unfortunately I can’t share that feeling with all of you because I can’t pass out enough records, but to ease curiosity as to what I am listening to, here is the song I got:
great remix of joker’s (digidesign), with almost that 90′s techno deep organ bass or whatever you call.
the original is still pretty great too

Almost a month from the originally scheduled release date, finally Dizz1′s 3rd Time Lucky EP has been released this week, out now on Nod Navigators. 3rd Time Lucky serves as a follow up to the Konotakosuke track off the Beat Dimensions compilation that created quite a buzz this summer and was a flexisonic favorite. The first track to catch my ear though was We Go Ridin’, done with Om’Mas Keith from Sa-Ra at the Red Bull Music Academy last year. The rolling, laid back cross over beats return on this release, 5 bangin tracks in all. Check it out over at Rush Hour.

Last week Daedelus and James Pants were in town to play the hifi. Letanque bloggers were in attendance and afterwards easily agreed the show ranked among the best of 2009. Sitting through James Pants was a bit painful but well worth the wait as Daedelus smashed it from the get go. No doubt the guy is genius with the bit box he works. Lots of speculations as to what is actually going on there but whatever it is he had us dancing all night and the guy loves what he does.
Here’s the man himself…
and some recognizable tracks he played

here are some other calgary dooods running a similar blog to letanque. sweet!
not only do they run a blog, but they actually have a regular night on fridays at a pub called Lord Nelsons. if you are in calgary check it out! the night is called modern math.

summer is over baby. on to evenings indoors, muted hockey games and rotating shiny black things. ok, its an obviously self indulgent mix here,.. bass, space and more bass, yet one i think many can appreciate. starting with all time favorite grime track skeng man mode into sizzla over the maSSive forward riddim by dexplicit. POW! from there quickly to LA beatmakers, kazi & oh no, ras g, and mono/poly. amidst the chaos, siren & airhorn fun with the maddecent iphone app, more head nodding from detroit rappers frank n dank and belgian sir oj, and then things get hazzy with a poet (ras g- 1derful beings). next the first track off koushik’s new album sets a minimal transition into more grime and dubstep ridiculousness care of starkey, devlin and unitz (kudos to BBC queen Mary Anne Hobbs for the picks). chop chop, a side trip to the deep south, then onto the highlight of the mix dorian concept. boom! trilingual dance sexperience, have you ever heard anything like it? finally, more off the album of the summer (machinedrum- Want to 1 2?) and some mike slott peachy before a dnb close featuring new and old productions.
enjoy

HAHAHA, I know it’s just a loop from a silly TV commercial, but I watched the whole 6:30 of the video and loved it. Maybe it’s because the beat is so sick!
