Coachella 2011

April 30, 2011

Yes, this Coachella 2011 review comes wee bit late but better late than never.

To describe it – awesome. You’ll never go wrong dancing your heart out at Coachella. This year with the Bass Oasis Dome, the line up was insane. As an example here’s how Sunday went:

So here’s where I had the most fun at Coachella this year:

5. Caspa with Rod Azlan (Sahara Tent) brought me back to that night at some sleezy bar in Calgary where Rod was just so sweet with his “knees up knees up, get your knees up! when I say Caspa you say dubstep, Caspa! Dubstep! Caspa! Dubstep! it felt good to dubstep again

Caspa stayed true to his original sound and didn’t get into any of this raunchy new sound that let’s say Magnetic Man is playing.

4.Chase and Status  ( Sahara Tent) in Full band mode the place was on fire, they busted all their dubstep classics that made me fall in love with their sound so I was happy

3. Lorn- (Oasis Dome)This one happened at 1 pm on Sunday so pretty chill crowd under the 39 F sun but his beats were pounding in all the right spots

2. Breakage (Oasis Dome) an hour of pure bliss bass

1. MAH- The dome was electric when Mary Anne Hobbs took the stage at 7:30pm. She came with one agenda that was to shower us with filthy beats. It was magical! Just seeing her was super exciting. Check out who’s pumping their hand on her left hand corner, official pic on the MAH website. booya.

Coachella is tricky. There is so much good music going on at once you never know if you should go see your long time fav that you’ve seen 5 times and check out some new gigs. Other great shows were; Leftfield, , Kode 9, Andy C !! Joy Orbison, SBTRKT, Ramadanman,Damien Marley, Eryka Badu, Kyle Hall, Mount Kimbie, DJ Zinc, Roska, Tokimonsta, Arcade Fire. The only disappointment was Daedelus. He overplayed his large crowd, almost like he was too nervous. He didn’t let it flow beautifully like I had seen him do twice in Calgary.

Do LaB once again proved the need to go to Shambhala and live like a hippie bass head for a few days.

The festival is getting bigger that’s for sure. It expanded the grounds by 10 acres this year and parking was annoying.

I did miss my fellow letanquers as they were so many times i would have loved to ask: what song is this again?
